Got a call Thursday night from my old flying buddy Eric Kriner, who resides in NC now. He was camping out at the Pulpit, the ultimate destination being New York state for business. He said "Let's fly the Pulpit". I had a commitment at 7P Friday evening, so I called Eric while still on the clock at FedEx, and said I'll be up at 2:30P to assist launch. During the drive up to the Pulpit I called Rich Bloomfield and secured his launch assistance by 4P+.
Met Eric at the main LZ as he dropped his car off and placed a sock on the west facing runway. Back at launch it was strong to blown out, as indicated by the weather station readings. So Eric worked remotely on his laptop till his 4P yabba dabba doo time, while I chilled out and enjoyed the shade under the pavilion roof.
Right at 4P Rich showed up on his motorcycle. Perfect timing! We got Eric up on the ramp w/o too much difficulty, but it was a struggle at times. Rich was on the left wing (meter showed WSW at times) and I on the nose. Eric cleared me, timed a good cycle and had a good launch, getting up quickly. Rich and I watched him for a while, then we departed, as I had to get back by 7P. A late night text from Eric stated he flew for 2:45 and got to 4K' MSL. Bacil
