Weather Station Updates

Quick update on the new weather stations.

Thanks to George and Dominique for helping install the new WS station yesterday. And to Felix and Brandon for repairing the EG station last week. The new PP station is ready and will be installed soon by John M. and Raja.

The new stations are a different manufacturer (Ecowitt) from our legacy stations (Holfuy, which is indefinitely shut down due to supply chain issues), so the data/app options are different.

The new stations are all uploading to Weather Underground (WU) with the following site IDs (the stations broadcast updates on 3 minute iintervals):

WS: KVAWOODS43 https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KVAWOODS43 (Woodstock) (operational)

EG: KVAFORTV15 https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KVAFORTV15 (Fort Valley) (operational)

PP: KPAMCCON24 https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KPAMCCON24 (Tuscarora Summit) (Not yet installed at Pulpit)

If you want an IoS mobile app option,I recommend this app, which works well with the new stations: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pws-monitor/id713705929. You just need to “add station” using the WU station codes after installing the app. There are more options for Android on Google Play.

You can also access the WS and PP stations via the http://www.ecowitt.net website, but you need an account.

We’re working on uploading the station data to the CHGPA website via APIs, but this is not yet functional.

We’ll advise when the PP station is installed and when we’ve updated the website with the station data.

If anyone has suggestions on how to improve the weather stations, we’re all ears!

FYSA - The PP (Pulpit) station is installed and operational. Thanks to John M, Raja and George for getting it up.

So all 3 of the club stations are upgraded and operational.

Next step is to consolidate the data on the club website, but for now you can access them directly from the links below or via a mobile app.
