CHGPA Members-
You’re likely aware that our wind sensors at Woodstock and Pulpit are not operational. Those two Holfuy sensors use 3G cellular communication cards and stopped transmitting as mobile carriers terminate their support for the the 3G cellular network (in our case, this happened on March 1st).
The sensor on Edith’s Gap has more modern 4G/5G technology but is also non-operational due to a broken wind cup. We have a replacement and will work to get it fixed (requires a bucket truck due to height of sensor).
We’ve ordered replacement 4G/5G sensors to replace the Woodstock and Pulpit sensors and those will be installed as soon as practical once we have them in hand. We’ll retain the old Holfuy sensors in case an updated 4G card becomes available.
Thanks to George Huffman who did lots of hard work over the years to keep these sensors working. We plan to give George a break and transition the maintenance of these sensors to others (and have the club cover the related costs). We have a few volunteers to help with this (thanks Raja and John M) so please let us know if you’re also interested in helping.
Thanks,
Jeff
