I would observe that an astonishing number of the pilots landing in The Piano seemed to have done so oblivious to the actual, obviously right-cross wind direction. Even more amazing was how many of them got away with doing so.

Maybe there was a spot landing contest going on, and the field didn't permit an optimal approach?
