Got to the Elizabethville launch around 10A. Light to moderate conditions and high altitude clouds. Set up and waited for pilots to arrive. Will Hynla and Allan showed up, so I ended up having a good launch (unlike 9 days ago here ) with their help and got up easily. Found the air to be especially turbulent. Saw Charley arrive during the 1st half hour of flying. Got 2 decent climbs to 3400' MSL and 3000' MSL. Was targeting the Carsonville private airstrip that I landed at 12 years ago, and could see it to the south. But the climbs drifted north, and the headwinds from the SW and W were very strong. So after an hour+ in really bad air, I decided to land at the winery. Punched out into the valley and flew xwind to the north so I wouldn't have to fight the headwind out to the winery. Expected turbulence and boy was there over the area around the winery. Had a good approach and landed to the SW in the high dark green grass at the back of the winery grounds. Landing was good, so I was happy w/ that too. Carried over to the winery bldg. and leisurely broke down. Charley came down and gave me a body ride back to launch to get my truck. Back at launch only Allan had partially set up his glider. It was just too strong. So around 5:30P it started settling down, and Allan finished setting up his glider. Will, Charley, and I help Allan launch into textured, glass off conditions. He got up easily and hollered down for Charley and Will to join him. They got their gliders off their vehicles and set up quickly. Charley and I launched Will around 6:15P, and I launched Charley around 6:30P. The 3 pilots enjoyed smoothed out glassy air way past 7P, with Charley top landing in the huge field on top. Those locals skeert of the forecast shoulda showed up late for the nice glassy air that was present. Bacil
