Pulpit Sunday Feb. 7th
The latest forecast for Hagerstown for Sunday has a high of 41 degrees and winds W @ 12 MPH. Since it's going to be a muddy mess at Smithsburg, who might be interested in possibly giving the Pulpit a go? Bacil
Re: Pulpit Sunday Feb. 7th
I have graduated, very keen and "interested"

Also in the running is Elizabethville, provided that one can make it to launch w/ a 4x4 vehicle. Bacil

Elizabethville road will most likely be icy. The Pulpit could be good late Saturday evening and on Sunday if it does not rain.
Walt will you bring your U2?

The forecast has changed to a small burst of snow passing thru Sat. night into Sunday morning, and to a direction of NW and a high of 40. I vote for Smithsburg. And yes the Pulpit looks good tomorrow by 3:30P. What do others think? Bacil
Re: Pulpit Sunday Feb. 7th
If Smithsburg wouldn't be a "royal mess" as Danny suggested then I'm up for it. For me it's all about getting the hands on practice or any airtime
What about Taylor's? Wind speed and direction look good just the gust factor is really high, for tomorrow. Nice and warm too

It looks like the best option is to fly at the Pulpit Saturday afternoon.
Let's go there and get some airtime.

Allan and I shoveled lots of snow today. The Pulpit is ready for flight operations. Allan will be flying tomorrow by noon. I'll be assisting w/ launch and retrieve. It is forecast to blow out mid-afternoon. Anybody else up for it? The last "warm" day at a mountain for a good while it looks like. BTW, it got perfect today at 3:30P. Bacil
Re: Pulpit Sunday Feb. 7th
Is pulpit still on? It's started snowing here in Fairfax city about 40 minutes ago and we already have 1/2 an inch snow accumulation on the ground. Been raining most of the night.
Re: Pulpit Sunday Feb. 7th
Drove thru the quick hitter snowstorm and got to the Pulpit at 10:30A. Blue skies were visible to the west. About 1.5" of snow had fallen, negating the use of the ramp. So I shoveled out a gravel runway on the pad while Allan set up his glider. The winds were light initially, then started to increase gradually after noon. Allan had a nice launch from the pad at 12:20P+, and it took a few figure 8 turns in lift in a north cross to establish himself above the ridge. I saw he was golden, so I drove down to the golf course's plowed parking lot to await Allan's planned landing on the fairway parallel to the road to the clubhouse. After 10 minutes or so, I spied Allan flying out to upwind of 7th Street opposite the main LZ. He looked low to me for making it to the golf course w/ some margin, and he ended up landing in the main LZ after a half hour flight. I parked on Crossroads Road, which tees into 7th Street just SW of the south end of the main LZ, and assisted in the breakdown. By this time it was after 1P, and the Holfuy windmeter was showing a base wind of 21+ MPH. We timed it perfect . A good feeling. Bacil

Sounds amazing! So, you guys launch from the PG launch area too?
I bet Allan must be a happy camper and kudos to you Bacil for the amount of effort you put in.
