Woodstock Tower Road Switch Back Ruts

Post by Ward Odenwald »

The road up to launch has a set of growing deep ruts flanking two of the north side switch backs that have the potential to do damage. These erosion gullies are on the uphill side of each switch back and are invisible or visible only at the last second while driving up the mountain. If you’re focused on detecting a car or truck driving in the opposite direction while entering the switch backs (turning up or down the mountain) there’s a real chance that one of these guys could reach out and mess with your vehicle’s suspension. One of the ruts is visible in the lower left corner of the fourth photo from Saturday’s flight.
