Moyes Litespeed RS4 and Wills Wing Sport 2 gliders (SOLD)

Post by Ward Odenwald »

Both are in excellent flying condition and still with their original/unbent Zoom (RS4) and Slipstream (Sport 2 155) downtubes (see attached Oct, 2020 ground photos and links to inflight pics and flight tracks). The gliders are stored partially setup in a dry, temp-controlled basement. Each comes with additional items (see below). Total hours on both wings are low given that, for the last decade, I’ve averaged only a dozen flights/year. All offers from qualified pilots will be considered. E-mail for more info (odenwaldward@gmail.com).

Litespeed RS4

History: The glider was assembled in 2010 and in 2012, Highland Aerosports replaced the carbon leading edges with aluminum and inspected the airframe. In 2015, Highland removed its original sail, inspected the airframe and installed a new Technora sail. The new sail has less than 50 hrs airtime (flown exclusively in USHPA region 9). In 2017, new flying wires were installed.

Reason for selling: This amazing glider is designed for a 20 to 60 year-old “youngster.” During the last two years, I’ve grudgingly come to the realization that I’ve “out grown it” as I’m currently pushing 70. My last XC flight with the Litespeed was in 2019 (see flight track link below).

Additional RS4 equipment:

Leading edge carbon reinforcement inserts

Trailing edge wing tip mylar reinforcements

Extra set of new flying wires

New set of Zoom downtubes

8 inch diameter pneumatic control bar wheels (see photos)

Extra control bar

Custom wingtip dive stick camera mounts (see inflight photos)

Extra hang loop with attachment bolt (different length)

Extra glider transport bag

Manual and batten templates

Sport 2 155

History: The glider was assembled in 2011 and for most of the next 7 years, it was stored (partially setup) while I flew the Litespeed. Since 2019, I’ve put approximately 25 hours on it. As mentioned above, it still has all of its original aluminum including downtubes (see attached ground photos and links to inflight pics).

Reason for selling: The Sport 2 has helped me learn how to detect and react to subtle changes in thermal lift. To me, the difference between climbing in a thermal and making it to cloud base. However, once every five years (regardless of my good/bad behavior) I deserve a new toy. Five years ago, it was a kayak and today it’s a Sport 3.

Additional Sport 2 equipment:

New set of downtubes

8 inch diameter pneumatic control bar wheels (see photos)

Custom wingtip dive stick camera mounts (see inflight photos)

Extra hang loop (different length)

Manual and batten templates
