Pulpit weekend 11/2 - 11/3
At long last it looks good both days. I'm in for both if it holds. Gonna be under 50 degrees . Bacil

Surprisingly, Bacil got right! This does not happen frequently:)
It was a wonderful afternoon at Pulpit.
Sunny, full of pilots from VA, MD, & PA.
Everyone had good flights.
I took off by 3:00pm when finally winds got below 15MPH.
I think I was the 3rd one to take off after Bacil & a great pilot from PA (sorry forgot his name). Mark C, Rick B, & Bob (from PA) helped me take off. Without their help I would not be able to have such a wonderful fly: many thanks for all of them !
I flew for just 1 hour. Air was fantastic! Trees were exuberant!
Jon B’s glider (WW S3) looked marvelous from above!
After taking off, I took Mark Gardner advise I hunted for thermals on the road in front of the ramp: the hunt paid off!
After 1 hour, I decided to land on the main LZ to join my fellow pilots. Once again, landed was ok, but not great: I am still struggling with my Rotor.
I hope to fly again with this great group

Re: Pulpit weekend 11/2 - 11/3
Well it was about as good as it could get today at the Pulpit. I got there at 1P+ to moderate to strong conditions and a drying local sky. Pilots who arrived in the next hour+ were Bunkhouse Bob, Jon Brantley, Jose? from the Pittsburgh area, Walt, Mark C., Charley, Anthony, Tom Allen, Jim Carroll and Pat Feudo from the Hyner group, and Rich Bloomfield. The conditions had already started to mellow out as I set up and got ready to go just after 2P. Had probably the best launch I've ever had into a cycle that after 1 step had me on a smooth escalator to the upper floors of the mall in the sky . Sampled the air a bit out in front and it was quite choppy. Decided to do a run down to The Corner. Got about 1/2 of the way there before conditions got soft and I headed back towards launch where Jim Carroll was soaring. Hung around launch, beckoning the pilots in the setup area to come on up, and saw Jim getting high down by 16. Headed that way and conditions got soft again enough to get me below the ridge. Scratched back up past 16 and headed further south. A redtail showed me where lift was so I just followed him and got a couple hundred over. Saw that Pat Feudo and Jim had landed in the main LZ so I went in and joined them with a landing befitting of the launch. Yeah! The next pilots soaring were Walt and Jon in his brand new Sport3 155, Halloween style . Jon came out and had a nice landing in the main LZ while Walt climbed upstairs like a bat right above launch. By this time it had turned magic, so Anthony, Charley, and Jose had nice flights in the late afternoon glass off. Lotsa smiles in the LZ in the waning sunlight. Bacil
