Ramped up. Going to Smithsburg 1st to do a few flights, then most likely check out the Pulpit 2nd. Bacil

Bacil, and club-- Just a question on Smithsburg. Stopped by for some practice on 4/22. Looked eminently flyable except that the LZ had about 6 inches of crop. Not so high for landing problems, but thought the farmer may not want landing/ tromping action with plants at that height. Can anyone tell me if pilots are using the hill, what the concerns would/ would not be? thanks, John

Mother nature has stepped in to stop us from flying at Smithsburg this Saturday. Usually in the past Smithsburg would be open from mid November to late April. With the fact that the winter crop is now 6" high in the landing area, coupled with the blustery winds forecast for Saturday, it's safe to say that the next flying at Smithsburg will take place in November. I updated our google map to indicate Smithsburg is closed for the season.
