Woodstock, Wed 10/17 and/or Thu 10/18

Post by krryerson »

Anybody interested and off on Wednesday October 17?
Might be too early to call but interested in flying at Woodstock on Wednesday.
Looking good for Thursday too. Some will say Pulpit on Thursday.... Though, are also up for WS both days, if forecast holds. Many will say too light for HG but have had some great flights on "light" days at WS too.
Let me know if interested and are open for both sites.

Let's go for Thursday and WS!
Gary, if forecast holds, are you interested in flying on Thursday at WS?
Have not given up Wednesday yet... .
If no one can make it either days, will try to go to Bluesky on Thursday, if possible... .

Based on last weather forecast, WS looks promising, but it may be too light. Pulpit looks too strong, but it may become better. Blue Sky is not good due to wind direction. Concluding, impossible to forecast the weather!!!

I will decide Thursday 10:00am, but unless things got bad, I am seriously committed to fly this Thursday

Looking little bit stronger now and most likely will be going to WS tomorrow.
Unless forecast change completely, will be at WS around noon. Let's stay in touch tomorrow morning.
Gary and Walt, will you be there?

Sounds great Gary.
I'll be at WS around noon.
Looking at all available data at 9:00 am, Thursday morning, WS is the choice for me today.

Ghost...I will take the rain check...WS would be too light when I get there and I did not have enough peers to go to the Pulpit :(

Arrived at noon at the bridge field to meet up with Gary.
At launch: Nice HG cycles coming in steady till around 1:45.Then it all got really light.
Randy, and Dan showed up, both with PG's and Randy launched around 1:30ish and easily got up.
Dan tried to launch for some time, but not perfect conditions for him.
Launched at around 3ish in okay conditions.
But never found some good cores to circle.
Should have stayed in front of the launch, but thought we had some north direction, flying over to the ridge to the right side, which often works.
Ended up scratching the ridge till I was forced to land, 3rd bend, Maurertown.
Still think if I had stayed in front of the launch, would have made it with my HG.
Good landing and a friendly teacher drow me back to the bridge field.
Tom, Dan and Randy all flew PG's and had great flights. One more PG pilot flew too.
Great to be out on a day like this and often you have to be there, to know the conditions.
Gary decided not to fly.

Nice Knut!

Here is a video from my other Norwegian friend Tor. He should be a HG pilot. Watch this:
