1st Formosa Meeting of Female Hang glider Pilots

It was a great event! We have representatives from several Brazilian states (RS, RJ, DF, SP), Uruguay, and an unofficial representative of CHGPA: myself!
The event was organized by Beto Schmitz – a 8x Brazilian HG champion, world recordist, and HG instructor . Beto did a outstanding job! All pilots had safe flights and were able to significantly improve their flight skills.
Although, the winds were week, we could fly every day! It is winter in Brazil, but the temperature was not terrible cold: from 13C (55F) to 30C (86F).
The goal of this event was to get to know the Brasilia flying site (Parana Valley), and improve our flying skills. After a couple of days landing in the main LZ in front of the ramp, all pilots including myself were able to thermal, have cross-country flights & land behind the ramp.
The main LZ is huge, but the rescue is painful: 120 km away!
The LZs behind the ramp are also huge, but you need to get at least 1000 feet above the ramp to get there safely. Most of us have been able to do so. I have 3 short cross country flight gets &land behind the ramp after getting 3K feet above the ramp by taking advantage of very docile thermals
All the pilots were very friendly. We frequently had happy hours after our flights and a few BBQ on Beto’s house afterwards.
Concluding, it was an outstanding experience. I strongly recommend you to attend.
Beto is organizing another workshop in Nov to more experience pilots that will be held in the Brazilian Northeast (Quixada – Brazilian outback -- and Ponta do Mel – costal flight). I am planning to attend it.

Just seeing this now. Parabens on flights in DF ! As for that other site you mentioned-- Praia do Mel-- is that on Ilha do Mel in Parana? (Gorgeous island and I loved it, but I don't recall too many high places from which to launch) Good for you for making these Brazilian events.

Unfortunately I have not been in Praia do Mel, PR, Brazil. I heart it is a beautiful beach.

The place I mentioned for flying in the beach, it is Ponta do Mel in Ceara.
