Woodstock April 20th (Friday) / Post update
It may be Too early to call, but assuming it will be nice, who would be willing to fly next Tuesday?

Woodstock April 20th (Friday)
It is way easier to forecast the past than predict the future
That said, depending on the weather, we "may" have a good day at WS this Friday.
Knut and I are in (if the weather is good). Anybody else?
Retired people? Slack workers?

Re: Woodstock April 17th
Let's hope Mother Nature delays the conditions by 12 hours so that the winery fly in day has more wind. Bacil

I change the title of the post to Friday
Good news...it looks like we may have several HG pilots
Knut, John M, Jon, Joe, Ward, and I.
So far, the weather forecast looks very decent!

Looks like Friday might end up being a bit too strong and north. Still planning to fly mid day but will take another look in the morning.
Saturday be flyable for the PG but could be light east which is not my thing for woodstock. Still plan on going to the winery.

Hello,
Looking at it right now at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, using XC-skies.
All the models, GSF, GDPS, NAM 12 and 3, all looking great, when it comes to wind directions, for WS.
Blowing straight in from 12 -13 mph, on the strongest. At 2k-4k, wind speed up to ~20 mps, which again with the WS effect, should not be a problem. Thermals tops out at 6-7k, and much more, but don't look like a XC day.
Definitely going tomorrow and hoping we get a great day.
ETA at noon.
Please bring a radio and can be reached at c 703-nine-six-seven-82-seven-seven.

Great day at Woodstock.
Arrived at 12:30 with Walt. Launched at 2:30, into moderate wind of perhaps 10 mph. Thanks Joe and Walt for wire assistance.
Had to work hard to get over the ridge in the beginning, but after figuring things out, things got better.
Maxed out at 4980 ft MSL. Notice that most of the lift was over and behind the ridge, at that time. Flew up to the Reservoir. Sometimes under the ridge, but mostly over, when catching a “spring rock and roll ride”, up again, in up to 906 fpm thermals. Little solid ridge lift in my opinion, so had to rely on thermals.
Never did feel out of control and wind up aloft was never that strong too.
Besides flying with Gary, had a beautiful red tail hawk, flying next to me for some time.
Flew by the WS launch on my way back. Watched Walt self-launched, from above. Great launch.
In the end, decided to fly out in the valley. Still good lift, but never tried to fly to the Winery.
Landed in the bridge field after a 1:36 hrs. flight. Gary ahead and John M landing after me.
Surprisingly warm day and a beautiful day.
Went to the Woodstock brewery for good beer and food with the HG guys.
Did some filming, during the flight and will make a little summery later
