Why I do not fly at the Pulpit Fly-In...

because I'm travelling for work to Belgium, well not only for work also flying in the weekend of course

Looks like the weather gods were more PG friendly in Belgium att least on Saturday.

Belgium is flatter than VA much flatter = Flatland flying.

Saturday :
Straight from the airport to take-off at Rochefort. It's a ancient city known for Abbey Beer and it's special cheese. It's was nice XC flying with lots of clouds winds max 10miles/h. The PG record is 136 miles.

Belgium HG pilots are almost not anymore. As in whole Europe PG has overtaken the HG world almost completely.

Sunday we flew at Prayon. It's a site just a hop from The Netherlands and Germany. But the prevailing winds or NO for XC so after 3h flying or 45 miles, you enter France. Again it was nice XC flying with light winds become stronger at altitude. When leaving the site we fly next to the TMA (class B) from Liege airport. Sometimes they come in too low and we get close (see photo below as well). The PG site record is 124 miles.

So we flew distances up to 65 miles this weekend.

Thanks, Tom. Great shots! I guess the low countries aren't
completely flat. Very inspiring (to go traveling with PG)! - Hugh

there are some small hills and the rivers made little valleys ages ago, thats how we take off without winch, 250-700 feet height difference
air temperature is colder than VA=more instable air, so the suns energy does the rest
