Pulpit Sunday

Post by mcgowantk »

Any interest for flying the Pulpit on Sunday? I am getting cabin fever! The forecast looks ok but not spectacular.

Some sfc 'casts are calling for the W winds to hold until 2pm or so... That might tempt me out there, if the SW switch doesnt get moved up. Will be watching things tomorrow, for sure!

Yeah, seems like it might be worth a swing by the Pulpit. I'll be heading there tomorrow unless there's some radical change in the forecast. ETA 11am or so. Bring a shovel! Bring salt!

Mid-atlantic pretty socked-in on the latest visible satellite image. Otherwise, things seem pretty good: NW->W on the sfc, and the strong 3K winds moving out by early afternoon. I'll head out, and cross my fingers that the clouds will burn off.

That leaves only myself and Walt as definite, not looking good.

If we don't hear from anyone else, my backup plan will be a t-hill day, Smithsburg. I know of at least two HG pilots who'll be there.

Might swing by Pulpit just to see, even if the crew oulook is bleak.

Bailed on the Pulpit swing-by, and rendezvoused with Jon and Bacil at Smithsburg. PERFECT training hill day: some light stuff, some sporty stuff, some cross stuff. Just the right mix to sharpen skills and knock off the rust. Did five flights on the Falcon, all of them were wicked fun. There was some lift out there, but wimped out on working it: launch and land, we're here to work :)

Ended up almost as far out as when I've brought my U2, for a couple of those flights! Whee! :D
