Options for Sat27Jan?
Considering a Daniel's day tomorrow, early, given the approaching front. Would have to convince myself that there will be a decent window *before* winds start dumping over the Blue Ridge, as the front approaches. A bit iffy..... Anyone else giving it some thought?
Re: Options for Sat27Jan?
Practice day at Taylor is another option. But possibly a bit on the strong side for the training hill? I like to work/run harder at the hill, stronger winds make it a bit too easy
Re: Options for Sat27Jan?
It's looking borderline strong at Taylors tomorrow. Sunday Eric is planning for Smithsburg but it will be soggy.
I've never been to Daniels and really want to get out there.

You don't know unless ya go, but I'm not enthused by what I see this morning.
The ADDS 3k has a stubborn 30-40 knot band through the middle of VA all day. It does narrow a bit 1pm-3pm... And the sfc winds are more SSW than SW... But having a hard time convincing myself to gamble on that long drive. If it was just a strong forecast rather than pre-frontal I'd probably give it a go.
Call if you want to argue in favor of going Anthony!

I have been watching and it looks too strong to me. The warm temperature makes it a particularly difficult decision, but I am going to opt for discretion and do some work around the house. If you do go and the forecasts are wrong, give me a call (the lazy man's option ).

Re: Options for Sat27Jan?
Smithsburg is looking less likely for 1/28. If the rain stops, Kirshners may be an option on 1/28, but it'll likely be a swamp based on what I saw when it was frozen on 1/14. I'm still focused on the training hill. I'm looking for two more back-to-back weeks of hill training then a nearly perfect soaring day soon thereafter to take me back to the mountains to search for an observer or two...
