Hmmmm, looking pretty good.... Would have to shift work tasks to Sunday, and still get Christmas packages out on Sat AM. Count me as at least a maybe.

Winds at HGR were all over the map, with SW then W then S. Really curious to know how things turned out, hopefully aviation was committed!

Four suspects showed up but no aviation was committed. Mark, your weather summary pretty much summed up what happened most of the day. From 1 to ~2pm, wind speeds were an acceptable 15mph to high teens at launch but its direction was the “moment of pause” (WSW) plus all of the mini-weather stations were indicating that the valley surface air was moving north and not up over the ridge. RichB and I drove down to setup streamers in the primary and secondary LZs that more or less agreed with the cross/switching directions predicted from above. When we got back to launch, wind speeds had ramped up and shifted to a more westerly direction. Rich’s wind meter was now showing a consistent high teen speed with gusts to 25 mph from the pad. Bacil and Charley arrived soon after and we commenced the time honored tradition of hang-waiting by dodging smoke around Rich’s campfire fueled by wood that he brought from home (Thanks!). By any measure, it was COLD and the dark overcast didn’t help! By 3pm the wind gusts/freight trains starting rolling through so Rich and I retrieved the LZ streamers while Charley and Bacil extinguished the fire.
No air time but very happy to be part of the day!

Bummer! Had some concerns based on the 3k forecasts, they seemed pretty strong... Sorry that it didn't work out, that sucks!
