Greetings: I was out-of-state a few months, am back around, and finally re-registered and able to post on the Forum. Is it possible that some of the folks who browse here do not go to the googlegroups site? Just in case, pasted below is what I posted there: another something to do on an E day. -–John
BILL'S again, flyable again (from Nov 5)
Just advising that Bjorn and I, together with Fish, a PG pilot from near Pittsburgh, on Saturday performed Major Services for Humanity (and esp for P2s and H2s, among the nearly human) by whacking out a pretty decent launch at Bill’s Hill. Took a good 3+ hrs, had to chop a lot of brush and cut a lot of saplings to deepen and widen the slot. It still could use some further widening; and I think it needs more crud & stubble removal to make a smoother run for hangie launches. But very flyable, and with a good E breeze we were easily up and out in the top quarter of the slot.
Good flights for all, some passes up and down the ridge before the wind went too south. Folded wings and just beat out the squalls. But I was reminded how ridge soarable Bill’s is, when wind is due east. Bjorn had the longest flight.
YES, we first called the landowner, Rodney Mix, and advised him we’d be flying. ALSO called Buchanan State Forest #, left a message for the forester, Steve Keiper, that we were flying Bill’s. Don’t know if BSF folks still want to track action there, but if yes, since other non-CHGPA pilots may be flying Bill’s, too, we ought to figure out how to advise other clubs of the protocols. –John

A quick heads-up in the forums prior to your maintenance effort might have resulted in a few more helpers John, couldn't hurt!
Good-on-ya for your work on the slot, BH can really be a B**@@$ to clear, I think it's the worst that we have (mondo-briars).

Right you are Mark. But it was an 11th hour idea, based on what we saw as an E wind (thus hope for post-drudgery flights) and a schedule opened. The third hand was a lucky surprise. Yup, and the sticker bushes were bitchly, + saplings had grown back tall. Still could use some work, as noted.
