SAC Saturday 9/30
Looks like it has potential. With Maria hopefully heading east the winds will be moderate from the NNW. Bacil

As good as it gets. NNW @ 12 MPH at Harrisburg. Guaranteed soarable. Bacil

Re: SAC Saturday 9/30
And back to the SAC. Arrived just before noon to find Ed and Jim Messina and Jackie Williamson there. I assessed conditions and determined that there were plenty of launchable cycles under an overcast sky. Ric Caylor arrived as I set up. Had a good launch in a nice smooth cycle just after 1P. Got up easily to the east and radioed to Ric that there was plenty of chop in the air, but not too bad. My XC goal was the Carlisle Airport. Jumped the Klingerstown Gap with ease and maintained 100' to 300' over the ridge down to the Pillow Gap. The thermals were not organized and ratty, and the sky remained overcast. Approached the gap twice but turned around due to insufficient altitude to jump it. Found some cohesive lift over the clear cut a mile east of Pillow and climbed to 2300' MSL. Beelined it for the Pillow Gap and jumped it with plenty of margin. Lost a bunch of altitude but the ridge was working on the other side. Flew down to the river area and found no fields to land in; they all had corn in them. The only option was to fly back to Pillow and land where I landed 3 weeks ago, or climb out and go OTB to the Lykens Valley Golf Resort. Found some lift and climbed up to 500' over the ridge. A 360 in sink convinced me to go NOW so I committed to the golf course. Made it over the course and had a decent landing on the edge of the green (next to the putting green) behind the clubhouse. The club superintendent Larry Hart came over and greeted me warmly. He had actually witnessed my landing at the golf course on 4/23/16 on another fairway. I called Ric to let him know I was down safely, but initially couldn't reach him. Immediately after that Joe called to verify I was down safely. The other pilots left to go home. Ric called and came to retrieve me. Thanks a bunch Ric! Bacil http://www.doarama.com/view/1651497
