Yet Another Sucky Mtn Forecast

Post by markc »

Damn, I've missed the good, or even halfway decent, weekend flying days lately... And another super-weak N/NE weekend ahead according to the current forecasts. Sigh.

Kayaking? Paddle boarding? Hiking/biking/running? Arghhhhh!

I too feel your pain! It’s those scrawny low pressure systems that end up resting their a**’s to the east of us after they’ve taken lives, destroyed homes and lively-hoods in the southern latitudes. Hoping for better weather next week! May be the 28th.

Well, had my first ever truck tow today. A Great day today, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Bluesky.
And glad I now can go truck towing too, and as everybody said, it is so much easier….
Got up to 850 feet on my third truck tow, which was plenty for thermal flying. And flew for over 2 hours and could have flown easily 30-45 minutes additional.
Great lift and found lift where you would expect it to be. All clouds worked great too and topped out to cloud base around 4200 feet.
Flew together with a beautiful bald eagle and will look through my video, to see if I can find some great pictures.
If interested, check my flight track at http://doarama.com/view/1627410
At last, if forecaster is the same tomorrow and this weekend, you might consider Bluesky on times like this.

Thinking I might wander down Blue Sky way tomorrow, just to check things out.... Any chatter about people heading that way?

I am going to BlueSky today. The earlier you go in the morning the better traffic.

Flying at BlueSky today was reasonably good. A couple of pilots got some very nice hour + flights and most everyone got some thermal soaring. I did 2 truck tows getting 15 min and 25 min. I had to leave at 4PM so I don't know if it got better but there were more cumis then.

Can’t’ fly this weekend. It is my son’s Birthday weekend.
Mark, I think you would like Bluesky, when mountains are not corporating with us Hangies. Cloud base at 4500 feet and forecast looks good! Good luck and let us know... .

Yup, flown there a time or two, and Steve has helped me with some harness work and a couple of chute packs. But my plans were scuttled by a cold or something on Sat, total loss of a day, d@mn!
