Hoping for soarable conditions but the current NAM casts posted on NoStepper and Windy for McConnellsburg are indicating a light SW flow in the valley up to 2K MSL during Sunday afternoon. Monday may bring better wind direction and speed, but who knows?

Latest hourly at HGR has it looking pretty good after 4P. I should be there after 2P. Bacil

Looks really good for Pulpit, but going to Bluesky.
Hoping to get some towing in tomorrow.

Re: Pulpit Sunday 7/2
I’m out. The morning NAM forecasts are indicating marginal ridge soaring conditions during the afternoon with the NAM 5 km showing a wind direction of 220 degrees by 4 pm in the McConnellsburg valley. It’s one of those “you won’t know if you don’t go days” but the predicted marginal ridge lift coupled with the real-time marginal LZ options are issues.

Was thinking about XC conditions and XCskies.com. Looks good to me.
For the ridge lift and landing LZ main, is another cup of tea.
Hope you guys have a good day if you go.

Got to launch around 2:15P to light to moderate conditions on launch and cumie filled skies. Waited for Walt and Mark Gardner to arrive. They did and set up immediately. Anthony showed just as Mark and I and a wuffo were positioning Walt on the newer ramp. Walt had a good launch just after 4P and got up easily. Anthony and I and the wuffo got Mark into position on the newer ramp just as it picked up dramatically. Mark had a twanger launch and was up and away. Both Mark and Walt got up to the 4400' - 4600' MSL range during their hour+ flights. They ended up landing in the main LZ, whose hay has been cut and baled. I picked them both up and we helped Anthony launch for a short soaring flight to cap the day. Bacil

That’s great that it worked out and also good news about the main LZ being cut and bailed. Looks like the winter wheat harvest is now in full swing (at least in Maryland) so many more fields will soon become potential LZs.

1st of all, I would like to compliment Bacilio for volunteering to help us yesterday. Although the conditions were fantastic, Bacil did not bring his glider and only showed up to help us!
He convinced me to go to the Pulpit (I was not very excited about it), then tremendously helped during the flight by giving me outstanding instructions via radio. I was working hard to move up, but I was unable to got over 300ft above launch. Bacil saw that Mark was having a good time north of the ramp, and radio me to move north. I was able to find a good thermal between the road and the ramp that brought me 2400 above the ridge. I was tempted to XC to the elementary school but finally decided to land in the main LZ. I had a graceful landing.
We cannot forget to thank Antonio who move a side the obstacle in the main LZ creating thus an landing street!
In addition, I would like to thank Marcos for his help on the ramp and for the cold beer after we broke down the gliders.
It was a great day!
