Hi everyone, although I think the online forums and google groups board is a great way to keep in touch and coordinate our flying intentions, I think there is a much better way which allows for instantaneous communication Between all people. It would be great if this caught on as it would make communication real time. I think it's a lot better, faster, and more efficient than the google groups and forum.

Yes, yes, we definitely need to further divide up the comms into multiple feeds that each must be monitored separately. Be sure to add FecesBook, Twitter, SnapChat, Signal, and Slack to the list!
Come on folks, add your own nominee. So far the list is at eight, let's see if we can reach twenty!

Re: New Instantaneous Chat Group for HG & PG Pilots
OK, I got my snark out of my system. Actually, I'd like to thank Tev for discovering a potential tool for us. I'd like to go a bit further and propose we work on figuring out what we really need overlaid with what the max number of club members will use. And we need to evaluate whether the existing forum and new Google board do not, or cannot be used to meet our needs. We should work on adopting and all using the same communication medium, avoiding a dividing split inside the club.
Here goes with my observations and suggestions for consideration.
We need a common communication medium with the following attributes:
1. Available to all club members.
2. Restrictable to only approved participants for two protections:
2.a. Prevent spam postings.
2.b. Avoid announcing to the world when we will be way from home, leaving that home unguarded and accessible for theft.
3. Accessible from multiple devices: computers, tablets, smartphones.
4. Easy enough to use that members are willing and able to post notes and updates.
5. Supporting multiple current parallel threads. We regularly have 3 to 5 threads going about the next upcoming weekend dates, in separate conversations tied to specific date and specific location.
6. A new replacement (not supplemental) tool should have improvements over the existing established options sufficient to motivate current participants to migrate.
Both the current forum and the newer Google Group appear to meet all of those criteria. I have seen posts to the forum from mobile phones, and assume there have been similar on the Google Group.
Please comment on proposed criteria, above, as well as how each of the many options we have meet or fail to meet them.
Thanks!

Re: New Instantaneous Chat Group for HG & PG Pilots
My Brazilian friends use Whatsup to communicate about HG.
At TTT, American pilots have also been introduced to this mechanism.
It is easy to post, call, etc. You do not need a high reliable 3g to use Whatsup or Telecran.
For instance, my ATT signal is terrible at WS. It is hard to download emails, however, I can still receive / send
whatsup messages
