Rich Heigel and I arrived at 10:30 and by the time I was setup and ready to go (~12) the slight north-cross with 10 to 15 mph winds that we arrived to had ramped up to wind speeds that averaged in the high teens with gusts up to 25. When we left at 3:30, conditions at launch were still unsafe. During the wait, I had a good conversation with Larry (our neighbor who lives next to launch). He recently bought several parcels of ridge top land south of takeoff and plans on building small rental cabins.
