Too early to call, but hopefully we may have reasonable weather conditions this Sunday at Woodstock and Monday at Pulpit.

Thoughts?

Sunday does also look like a very good possibility for Woodstock!

I plan on helping pilots launch this Sunday at Woodstock if they want to brave lugging their equipment in from the back side of the mountain. The road is most certainly closed. Bacil

Bacil,

Nice to hear from you! I used to have the phone#s to check road status, but I do not have them anymore.
What #s should we call Sunday morning to check?

Walt, for the Woodstock Tower Rd open/closed status you can call the Shenandoah County Dept. of Fire and Rescue (540-459-6167).

I called the Shen. Fire and Rescue and was given the website they look at to tell if Woodstock Tower Rd, Route 758 is open. Here it is:

Wife was having a huge hen party at the house today so I ventured out for a Sunday drive into Virginia in search of company to keep for a few hours. Ended up hiking in to the Woodstock launch and found Randy Weber set up with his driver Larry accompanying him. With Larry and I assisting, Randy had a nice launch into perfect conditions around 4:30P and got up easily. Dropped by my buddy Paul Kos's house in Fort Valley and talked flying for over an hour. Capped off the evening with a visit to Walt and Kayla Melo's house for a fine dinner and cold beer and wine. Bacil

Did something on Sunday I thought I would never do (too lazy). I hiked my hg up the back of Woodstock. My friend Larry had a canoe transport mechanism (a small frame with 2 wheels) that the glider strapped to nicely. He walked in front and I walked behind and we rolled the glider up the road. Much easier than carrying. The flight was very enjoyable, it was actually pg able, to my surprise. Max alt above launch- approx 800 ft and 1 hr in length.
