Re: New Flying Site Meeting
Is this a PG-site, an HG-site, or both?
Private land, or public land, for the launch?
And for the LZ?
Seems likely that the site has been flown if things are this far along... If so, will existing insurance and other protocols suffice? Or are there additional requirements?
Launch direction????
Some basic information would be nice to have.

I agree with Mark, more info would be helpful to all.

Yes, it would be both HG and PG. Hopefully the landing areas are a sufficient size for HG.
Faces same direction as Bills, but it's higher elevation.
Buchanon State Forest land, so public. We just need their agreement to move forward. Not sure if we need to add additional insurance coverage for the site, or if we're covered already.

Matt, Pat and et.al,
This find is remarkable. Like most of the east facing Appalachian ridges, when the wind blows west they reek of ridge lift! LZs are not an issue - as far as I can see.
Hoping for Success,
Ward

It's been a few years since I worked on this, but I recall the Bill's Hill insurance being in the name of Buchanan State Forest. So insurance-wise, we should be good to go.

New Flying Site: I met with Steve, Jim, Chris, & Cheryl today from Buchanan State Forest Department about opening a new flying location within the park.
Tom's Cliff (ENE-E-ESE). P-3 H-3 Cliff Launch. Bark Road Overlook.
GPS: 40.0021086, -78.1304906
Multiple landing areas out front.
Work Required: ~40 trees felled by certified chainsaw operators. Add the site onto USHPA RRG Insurance Program. Revise the CHGPA Master Agreement with the Forest Service.
Next steps: Meet again in the next few weeks to finalize a formal agreement and proposed timeline.
Looking good.

Does anyone have a high resolution image of a hang glider and paraglider from within the Buchanan State Forest? The Forest Service is creating a public exhibition on free flight in the park. They need digital images.
Please PM me if you have an image for use.
Thanks.
