Sacramento Sunday Sept. 4th
Looks pretty good and straight in. Best place to fly in due north conditions. I plan on getting there early in the AM, heading back towards Baltimore from Hyner. Anybody else interested? Bacil

At least as of Fri night.... Seems like Mon might be better than Sun for the Sac?

Finally made it to the SAC today just before 2P. Moderate to strong conditions on launch, pretty much straight in. Set up and waited for pilots to arrive. Joe and Karen Gorrie and Dave Black all arrived by 4:30P. Chris Bruno arrived right when I had a nice launch at 4:45P in a moderate cycle. Had to work a little to get up. Decided to try to make it to the river and back before 7P, since sunset was 7:30P. Found some nice lift just west of launch and gained to 3K' MSL. Jumped the Klingerstown and Pillow Gaps with ease, finding lift in each gap crossing. Got to near the 3rd "gap" (a saddle in the mountain, called Deibler Gap) and got pretty low and now had to make a decision in increasingly cross conditions from the NE. Very few fields weren't in crop. There is a field (not in crop) directly out from the saddle that I have landed in before, so I flew towards it to land out. Lo and behold, found some lift and gained a few hundred feet and actually thought I had a chance in making it back. Flew back towards Pillow and got low again just before the Pillow Gap and committed to a field out in front. On the way out spied a nice huge yard with short grass between 2 houses that I could make so I ended up having a nice landing in the yard. Got permission from the nice landowner Lois Hommel to stow my glider in her front yard. Joe came and fetched me. Thanks a bunch Joe! Nobody else even set up as the conditions got stronger after my launch, then mellowed and got cross from the NE. Bacil
