Hyner Labor Day weekend.

Post by Dunegoon »

I'll be headed to Hyner after work on Friday with my wife. Some talk of trying to fly other sites. Going to relax and camp. I'll bring my telescope (for awesome stargazing) and RC eagle to fly.

Despite the less than ideal conditions there was a lot of flying. Light and variable conditions allowed launching Saturday and Sunday. Bunkhouse Bob, flying his Atos on Saturday, ruled the sky flying around like a sailplane specked out for hours. On the other side of the performance spectrum, Johnathan, flying a Falcon 1, also specked out and flew to the end of the day. Go figure. Most of us just had nice sleds or extendos. Only a few PG pilots but they also did well with the light and variable conditions.

Sunday looked very promising and most took multiple sleds. I had some good launch and landing practice both days. Also did a unique launch from the grass slope left of the wall. Dennis P. helped on that one, "like the old days." We did not expect to fly at all, and ended up flying both days! How good is that?

Camping was very nice. Beautiful night skies and cold temperatures. Some enthusiastic campers kept the time honored "traditions" alive. Use and ownership of the field is in question, so if you have not had a chance to fly Hyner lately you might want to want to do it soon.
