Not impressed with the morning NAM predictions for mid to late afternoon. Waiting for the noon updates.

Wind direction and speed look good but the predicted upwind storms are an issue. I’m waiting for a better day.

Great day at the Pulpit. Got there at 1:30P to partly cloudy skies and moderate winds. In the next 1.5 hours Dave Gills, Charley Fager, and Matthew Smuts arrived. Nailed the timeline perfectly with a launch from the pad in moderate winds just after 3P. Got up easily and flew for an hour, getting 600' over max as the skies above the ridge/valley and upwind cleared. Got strong late into the flight (with the clear skies), as indicated by the spinner windsocks at the bottom of the pad. Ended up landing on purpose to help the Hang 2s fly later in the evening. Had a nice landing on the golf course driving range, landing to the NNW (clubhouse flag and green flag indicating the direction). Charley and the gang retrieved me (Thanks Charley!), and back at launch at 6P it was cranking. By 6:45P it started backing down, so Charley, Matt, and I launched Dave from the pad into moderate conditions. He had a nice launch and got up easily. Next was Matthew from the ramp for his first Pulpit flight. He had a Falcon 195 so it was good that Charley, Anthony, and I were available to help. Matt had a good launch in moderate conditions and beelined it for the main LZ and landed. Next was Anthony on the ramp and it had picked up some. It took a while in swirly conditions, but a good cycle came in and he was off and up! Lastly, I launched Charley from the pad. He had a great launch in moderate conditions and had a "as good as it gets" flight, soaring around, relaxing, and flying in butter smooth air at the end of the day. He had a huge grin after nailing his landing in the main LZ. Back at launch it was still blowing after sunset, with the red sky, half moon, and the lights of McConnellsburg making for a great picture (Charley took it). Charley, Dave, and I dropped by the bar and had a beer out on the deck; the cool, dry winds were refreshing and felt dang good. Bacil

The quick story:

Some nice flying this afternoon. Had to drive through some heavy showers on the way out, but I knew from what I saw it was going to be fine at the Pulpit. Arrived after 3PM to soarable conditions. Bacil, Dave G, Anthony and Matt all got to fly. We launched Bacil first into some active air. He got his tank filled and landed at the driving range. Conditions ramped up once we returned so we just waited until later to launch. Dave launched first followed by Matt and Anthony. Dave had a nice soaring flight. Matt had his first Pulpit flight and landed in the primary. Congratulations Matt! Anthony did some nice flying also.

Bacil solo launched me last into some sweet air. Exceptionally smooth and soarable with large areas of lift to 2900 msl. I flew around as long as I wanted and slowly cruised out the valley. Flew out to the golf course and saw Bacil waiting for me but elected to fly back to the primary just to speed up shuttling back to launch. Good launches and landings from what I saw and everyone was happy to get some. Thanks to Bacil for helping and driving. I learn something every time I go out. A quick debriefing and everyone was safely on their way home.

Beautiful sunset and still soarable until dark. It does not get much better than that.

Thanks Bacil and Charlie for helping us H2's get some airtime! It was slightly more North than I expected. Another round of glass off conditions at Pulpit. What a great site! BTW, most of the wooden benches and picnic tables have seen better days and Dave's newer rocking bench is missing. It was there 2weeks ago.

I'm real glad to hear you all had a great time. Sure can't wait to get back to the pulpit. A few sled runs yesterday at BlueSky for me and soared to 1800 today so nothing epic.
