The 2016 Quest Air Open National Championships started this past weekend in Florida. It appears the weather must be cooperating as there have already been some big tasks and great flights! Day 1 was a 160 km task for the open class, and day 2 was 113 km. Both Larry Bunner and John Simon have had some awesome flights, making goal both days! Congrats! Matt Christensen is flying in the open class and had a great flight yesterday making it about 100 km! Knut Ryerson is flying in the sport class and has also accumulated some good miles on his wing, having a nice 55 km flight day 1! Great flights so far guys, and good luck the rest of the week!

Re: 2016 Quest Air Open National Championships
This time of the year is the best time to fly here and have had some fantastic flights/day's.
Should have made it to goal today, (T3 ) but had problems with my instruments, combined w/ not doing my HW.
Some very good pilots here and recommend every pilot to come down here next year.
Friendly crowd and lot to learn from them as well.
Can't even start naming names, too many...
Visited also Wallaby.
Yes, Matt and John S. is really flying good.
John has the newest Combat w/ new leading edge tubes. Flyes incredible.

Re: 2016 Quest Air Open National Championships
6 days of flying and we are going to fly tomorrow too, that makes it 7. Can't ask for better weather. Finally found out what was wrong with my flying... My instrument was set to too sensitive. Long story ... Now I feel that I can fly again
Have learned a lot and had more airtime in one week than I did in six months at home. Hope to get a great flight in tomorrow and will be back next year for sure.
Perfect place for XC with thousands of flat/perfect landing fields.
Would be fun if we could be more HG pilots from Capital Club next year.

Re: 2016 Quest Air Open National Championships
Lets give a big shout out for John Simon and his podium finish (3rd) at the Quest meet. This quite an accomplishment to be standing next to Johnny and Oleg at the podium. He and his new glider really kicked some butt against some of the best pilots in the country and world. Congratulations John!!!!!

John was fantastic both weeks.
First week 8th place and 3rd place 2nd week, was just amazing. He is really good and congratulation John. The new wing he is flying is also amazing and very small. Also, you should see the leading edge on John's Combat, Whaooo... .
To bad that last day, yestetday, Quest Air Open, Part 2, ended so tragic with Jeff B from TX.
Jim: Hope you can join us next year flying at Quest Air Open.
