2016 Blossom Kite Festival April 2

Post by mingram »

The DC Kite Fest is being held on Saturday April 2 this year. We will be allowed to display hang gliders and kite paragliders on the mall and will have a table setup with information. I'm looking for volunteers to setup a hang glider and help man the table. I will be in India for a wedding so we need a new point person. Also, everyone is welcome to just come hang out and do some kiting. Who's coming?

NPS is predicting peak bloom between March 31 and April 3. Perfect timing for the Kite Fest!

So we've been asked to a demonstration for Good Day Washington on Monday, March 28 from 9-10AM near the Tidal Basin! I plan to demonstrate kiting a paraglider. Anyone else is welcome to join me for the demonstration. Any hang gliders want to setup?

Sounds like fun; though - I'm working Monday and wrapping up a week of midz... Do you still have openings for PG pilots at the Kite festival Saturday (for kiting/display) I'd like to come out for that event and play :-) If so - anything I should know or bring; do you need anything in particular to help set-up (time and meeting details?)
cheers!

Rick and everyone else: all are welcome to kite on the mall during the kite festival. Bjorn will be manning the table and could definitely use some backup/help. Hopefully a few other club members are planning to come out and help. Evan Tasios is bringing his hang glider for display. Rick, please come and lend a hand and do some kiting.

So the weather was a little rainy in the morning. Evan was supposed to bring his hang glider, but backed out so we didn't have our usual hang glider visibility. Also Bjorn didn't have tape for the sign so didn't attach it to the front of the table. So weather and lack of signage made for lower turnout. Carlos and Hugh showed up. Hugh did a little kiting. New member Rick Matthews also showed up, but not sure anyone but Hugh did any kiting.

Bummer. Better luck next year.
