I just talked to the owner of the Pulpit Secondary LZ (Mike and Michelle Hill) and they gave us permission to land today!
The field is planted, but it hasn't started coming up yet. We'll have to call again and check before the next flying day.
Tom and I are planning to fly the Pulpit today. ETA Frederick to carpool at 11am. LZ around noon or 12:30. Anyone else interested?

The flying season has begun! Lots of new pilots showed up!
It was overcast and cold with a 3-5mph base wind when we arrived at 12:30. By 2pm the sun started to poke out with nice cycles blowing through. I took off and immediately hooked one to cloudbase off of launch that drifted my halfway over the back and continued over. I found one other really nice thermal over the quarry halfway to Greencastle that got me back to cloudbase - 1-2m/s lift. I topped out at 5300 ft msl. 1:15h and 28km landing near Greencastle. I hitchhiked and got a ride back to Frederick. Tom flew 55km to the Northeast, but wasn't able to hitchhike.
I'm hoping other pilots will give their reports on launch because people were flying there all afternoon so I think it got really sweet in the afternoon.
Dom and his wife found us from the Meetup Group and came out to watch. They gave me a ride from Frederick!
Ian Francis a P2 took his first flights at the Pulpit with his wife as retrieve driver.
Jim Crocker P2 first time at the Pulpit
John Wedner P2 first time at the Pulpit
Mark Williams P2 who I met at the Kite Festival - first time at the Pulpit
Tom Goldstein a P4 from California made it out for the first time.

Most pilots landed in the Secondary LZ. The fields before the Secondary LZ are unplanted and hopefully will remain open for landing all season. Several pilots landed there yesterday for convenience. It's a short hike out to Rt. 16 which makes for a faster turn-around back to launch so we may look at that as an option once the crop closes the main field in the Secondary LZ.
Also, there's a dump truck parked in the parking lot. I suppose it belongs to the guy across the street. It doesn't have tags. Does anyone know if he's the guy who maintains the gravel road? Hopefully it won't be there the next time we go.
