Pulpit - 1/2/2016

Post by bowen.tim »

Got a text from Charlie Fager this morning with an ETA around 2PM at the Pulpit. I arrived around 2:15 and Charlie around 2:30. Bacil and Walt were already there and Walt setting up. Bacil volunteered to drive so Charlie and I set up. Walt was first to go, and he immediately was over about 1K then went south down the ridge. I launched next and worked my up. Basically all ridge lift with a thermal here and there. Lift was working real good over launch. I got to 3K MSL and flew for an hour, then followed Charlie out to the golf course and landed on the driving range. BTW, after getting back into the sport and flying for 3 years, this was my 1st flight from the Pulpit. It was a beautiful for January 2nd.

Nice flying Tim and Walt! What a great afternoon with beautiful skies and sweet air. A January treat. It does not get much better than that. Thanks to Bacil for sacrificing his flying time to help us. 8)

Had a blast yesterday helping Walt, Tim, and Charley into the air at the Pulpit. The two spinner windsocks are indispensable at the bottom of the pad. Walt flew his "new" UltraSport 135 that he recently purchased that has very low hours on it. All 3 pilots had good launches from deep down the pad slot and each enjoyed the clear skies for 1 hour+. Yeah...great day at Pulpit. No words to thank my fellow pilots for helping me on the wire and Bacil for observing" me. landed safely in the main LZ after flying for 1 hour. It was my 1st flight at Pulpit with my WW Ultra Sport 135: I was fun. Bacil did not fly since he very kindly offered to help us all! THANK YOU again!

I am looking forward to flying there again with such a nice group of pilots

Cheers, Walt

p.s. After flying we went to Bacil's preferred restaurant on the top of the mountain. It was not as good as Bacil's preferred pizza place in Strasbourg, but it was ok. Following Charles advice I got a pork sandwich: I still can not forget it :D
