Woodstock sat

Post by andybalkphysics »

Some other people and I are thinking about going to Woodstock tomorrow. I'm leaning towards going despite the predicted west cross.

Jon Brantley and I flew Woodstock today. Jon and I arrived at the bridge field at approximately the same time around 1:30. We both had independently planned a late day flight. Launched into a 5 to 8 mph wind blowing straight up the slot. There was a definite west cross on the ridge. The air was a surprisingly mild and smooth. I boated around enjoying a winter solstice flight, an early Christmas gift. The gps indicated max agl of 1500. Really did not want to go higher. It may have been enjoyable air, but it was cold. My winter weather gear served me well. At the end of the 1:10 hr. flight I was still fine temperature wise. The textured air was found on the approach to the bridge field. A very enjoyable day. Many thanks to those who came out to mark the trees for the upcoming site renovation!

If you plan to fly on Dec. 24 (I understand it is going to be warm) make sure you clear your turns...........

May your holidays be joyous!
