High Rock 40th Grills and Volunteers Needed

Post by Matthew »

The grill in the LZ is toast.

Can I get a couple of you to bring grills???

I have small propane grill that I'll bring. But it is very small.

We really need a couple of more grills. And if anyone has a large cooler, let me know. The more coolers the better!

Big thanks to Anthony on checking on the grill situation and getting rid of the trash in the LZ.

Also, big thanks to Walt for offering to be a grill man. Still need one more grilling volunteer.

I may be calling on some of you for some more help-- such as picking up the beer and ice.

Avoid that phone call by PMing me and offering to help out!!!

Re - beer. I'm planning of getting a couple of cases of beer based upon a head count on Wednesday. Let me know via PM if you have any suggestions for beer. Right now I'm thinking of Yuengling and Heineken.

Again, we will have burgers, a few veggie burgers, hot dogs, fixins, coleslaw, potato salad, snacks, pies, sodas, and water. If you would like to bring an additional dish or beverage to share, please do so.

I will be there to offer limited assistance on Sunday. I will bring wine and finger food. I will also be able to help on the grill if you are able to provide the grill...I do not have a mobile grill :(

I have a bag of charcoal and lighter fluid I'm bringing. I also snagged the 'grill' part of the grill (that Charlie rescued) from the Pulpit. That over the fire pit should provide some cooking real estate. I'll also bring a spatula and tongs. And my camp stove will be a supplement grill, if needed.

If I'm in the LZ at dinner prep time I'm perfectly happy grilling. But, if I fly late (per usual) the hungry masses won't want to wait for me to break down.

Sunset is 6:25. Light charcoal at 6:00? Cook until we're sated, then build fire on top of still-hot charcoal? I think the labor will work itself out. Whoever's in the LZ can get things started. Am I being too optimistic?

That may be a little optimistic. It looks like the weather is going to cooperate. Which means that if any H2s show up then I will be probably be helping them launch towards the end of the day.

Thus, I will need a dedicated person on the ground in the LZ getting things ready for the grill.

However, I don't have a real head count as to who is coming.

We have me and Karen, you, Mark, Anthony, Hugh and Brian.

It's very, very depressing -- the lack of enthusiasm and support for this event.

On the plus side, T shirts have been selling well. I have 15 left for sale at the Fly-In-- mostly Larges and XLs. I can order more if needed.

But then again, there may just be seven of us there.

:(

I will be there on Saturday. I hope many people will fly. If the conditions are "waltable" I will try to fly as well :)

I can bring something and/or help when I get there.
I am over 4 hours away and driving a small car so firewood would not be practical.
Can you think of anything else?
