Highland, Thursday Oct 8

Post by Ward Odenwald »

Can't make it to the Pulpit tomorrow, but I would if I could! Thursday is looking good at Ridgely (light surface and aloft winds and plenty of sunshine). If predictions don't change, I'll be there at 11.

Ward,
I am interested in going to Highland on Thursday too. Unfortunately, can't make it for Wednesday mountain flying. Will let you know by Wed night and if forecast holds, should be at Highland by 11:00AM.
Hopefully we'll get a day like Rich E. had for a few weeks ago, on a Thursday too... . "Highland, Thurs 18 Sep - Epic!" :D

Arrived little bit before 1PM and 2 hrs late. Notice great Cumulus clouds all over the Maryland's Eastern Shore and was very optimistic. Weather was also fantastic.

Ward, Valerie, John M. Jeff, Sami and a few more pilots that I don't remember the names of, did all fly and most of the pilots started between 12:45 - 2:45 PM. Some of them had long great flights.

Being late, was one of the last being towed, but when it was my turn, they had some difficulty with the Dragonfly. First around 4:28M when all the other pilots had landed and packing down, I was towed up and did not expect any lift left for me, with blue sky all over the airport, with exception of one smaller Cumulus cloud; though, plenty in the distance.

But, was rewarded for the wait and lucky for me, Sami followed and we both did find lift and flew mostly together for one hour and topped out at 5:15 PM to 2975 feet. Thanks Sami for marking out some thermals and glad you also waited out.

Great flying again at Highland and well worth going to Ridgley, but should have been there earlier.
