Visiting PG from Brazil wants to borrow/rent glider

Post by wmelo »

I friend of mine from Brazil (Brasilia) will spend 1 week in DC participating in a conference (10/12-16/2015)
Unfortunately, he will not be able to bring his glider. I am wondering if someone in the club could rent/lend a PG so he could try our skies.
He flies in a Skywalk Cayenne 4, XL. The pilot is 6feet tall and 213lb.
Attached pic of him flying over Brasilia after flying +- 90Km from Vale do Paranã (Go, Brazil), to Brasilia (DF, Brazil).
Suggestions?

I don't have anything like that but I'll make sure the rest of the PGers know about the request.

Thank you!
Although Brasilia is not a 1st touristic destinations to PG/HG, it seems to be an astonishing site for XC. Hopefully, in the future we could get a group to fly there.

"Brasília is known as a departing point for the practice of unpowered air sports, sports that may be practiced with hang gliding or paragliding wings. Practitioners of such sports reveal that, because of the city's dry weather, the city offers strong thermal winds and great "cloud-streets", which is also the name for a manoeuvre quite appreciated by practitioners. In 2003, Brasília hosted the 14th Hang Gliding World Championship, one of the categories of free flying. In August 2005, the city hosted the 2nd stage of the Brazilian Hang Gliding Championship."

Hi Walt

I have heard for many years how great the flying is in Brasilia. Dustin Martin is offering guided tours for flying there. I understand that he provides the gliders, drivers, and hotel. Sounds like a great place to fly.

I think Dustin has shifted his operation to Columbia.

Yes, he moved to Colombia.

I do not know about Colombia right now, but given the difference between Dollars and the Brazilian currency, Brazil can be a very interesting destination. $1 is most R$4!!!!

Maybe we could team up, rent a container, ship our gliders, and fly there !
