It is a little bit too early to be confident about the weather forecast, but it seems that this Wed we will have a sunny day with moderate NW winds at Woodstock and Pulpit.

Thoughts?

Provided I can return on Tuesday from Pawleys Island SC, I should be able to make it to the Pulpit early Wednesday morning. And be able to fly most of the day. Bacil

As of 4 pm Tuesday the forecast is looking quite nice for flying at the Pulpit. My guess of launch winds 8 - 14 mph starting late morning. I am planning on arriving main LZ around 11:20 AM to put up wind socks. Let's drop off a couple of cars there. I will sponsor H2's if suitable.

Fantastic! It looks like we will have a good group.
BTW, LZ and LA (Launch Area) GPS coordinates are:

LZ: N39°54’38”, W77°58’36”
LA: N39°54’52”, W77°57’31”

Looks like I'll be there. Probably not before noon because of morning rush hour.

Blaine, Google tells me the pull-off for the main LZ is at 39.901757, -77.983148. Also, I'm the Pulpit treasurer, so I can take your $15 Pulpit fee for the year. Or make sure you're of a member of either CHGPA or MHGA. I don't have a roster from MHGA, so if you're already a member, my apologies.

"Los falconeros" ride again! Walt, Blaine, and me. "G", John, Bacil, Dave and Dave Bodner on Sport 2s. George, Stan, Steve, and me on PG. (Apologies if I forgot somebody - I plead old age.) It was strong and cross - except when I got on launch with the Falcon, when it was light and cross. Finally got off, went down to the towers and quickly got 1000 above the ridge - but then I started to lose it. Went out front to a likely looking cloud, but no joy, went back to the towers, still none, went out to land in the upper primary - still managed to tweak my right (previously uninjured) knee. Rabea, a friend of Ellis' from Germany, came along for an outing - we shamelessly pressed her into service as a driver. It was raining gliders in the LZ.

Back up top, George went for a second flight (he and Stan had done well with their PGs near launch) after seeing Kinsley stinking' high on his. George flew to Lemaster. I dithered, worried about my ability to launch on the tweaked knee. Of course, I succumbed to temptation, but by the time I got up there the wind had ramped up. Five people (thank you!) held my wing down for it seemed like 10 minutes until I got a short lull. The wing picked me up (not jerked) but I hung in the space between the ramps for a quite a little while, being very gentle on the brakes, until I finally penetrated out. Got about 500 over at the towers, but no further. Concerned about penetration, I went out over the primary (slowly) and took a good 10 minutes to hover down.

Great seeing everybody! - Hugh

The PG's ruled the air with most of the HG's getting sleds or little extended flights. I think timing was a big factor for the all. At times wind was light and cross and sometimes moderate and cross.

I was the 1st to arrive and the 1st to fly. My take off was poor  My winds were not level and I had to correct them when running. North winds dominated most of the days. I was able to zigzag in front of the launch area for a little bit, but I lost altitude and landed after 15 min. My landing was beautifully done in the main LZ.

Special thanks for Bacil, Hugh, and John for observing me and helping on the wire: I promise I will have a better take off next time!

I had to leave by 3:30pm. When I left the winds were moderate. I hope it got better by the end of day.

I am looking forward to flying again at Pulpit on moderate West winds!

I got a sledder with some launch/landing practice but the best part of the day was seeing G-man (Ghassan) flying a new site.

Ghassan got an extended sledder but reported that he very much liked the place and wants to come back.
Looks like we have another Cap Head :D
