Highland, Thurs 18 Sep - Epic!

Post by Rich E »

It really was - a Sport 2 was soaring at 1130 and sticking well.

I launched around 13:30, rowdy tow, one of the rowdiest ever and pinned off slightly early in a booming thermal that took me 5200' - tight core at over 1000fpm with consistent lift around 400fpm. Went off exploring and found abundant lift pretty much everywhere. Highest I got was 5400' but height of the day was 5950'.

My last thermal was beautiful, wide, smooth and 400fpm, was able to drape arms over basebar and boat back up to 5400' with barely a correction. Flew for 2 hours and was a little tired, cold and a there was beer calling to me in the LZ.

Probably one of the best days at Highland this year.

Fri and Sat look equally good... :)

Cheers

Sweet! Delicious thermals make the beer afterwards even more delicious.
