Emma Jane Fundraiser

Post by Matthew »

As most of you know, Emma Jane's son Randy died unexpectedly on Easter. She has had trouble paying for the cost of the funeral.

If anyone wants to help out, please make a donation through the CHGPA Paypal Account.

See--

http://www.chgpa.org/ClubInfo/chgpa.due ... aypal.html

Then click on the button at the bottom for Donation. The default donation is ten dollars. Karen and I are each donating 100 dollars. So if you wish to donate 100 dollars, then you would change the quantity from 1 to 10 and click Update. And then click on Checkout with Paypal and continue from there.

We are trying to raise 3000 dollars.

Done. Thanks for spearheading the effort, Matthew and Karen. Also, the club's Paypal account was a convenient way to pay. ~Daniel

I spoke with Emma Jane the other day and she mentioned that she appreciated getting sympathy cards and knowing that she and Randy remained in our thoughts and prayers.

If you would like to send a card to Emma Jane, it is not too late. Her address is:

23924 Coffee Pot Lane
Smithsburg MD 21783

Thanks

Just checking in to see how we are doing. The annual property tax bill is due around now so it would be helpful to let Emma Jane know what we raised.

Thanks to everyone who contributed

The good news : We raised a fair amount that will help Emma-Jane deal with funeral costs for her son, and she's very appreciative.

The disappointing news : From what we can tell, the number of donors was (at best) 15. That's a very poor showing.

Granted, many of our pilots are PGers who can't fly High Rock, so there's no reason to expect them to step up. But the HG'ers.... Come on, we've got more than 15 who care about the Rock, right?

Right???

Donations from hang glider pilots, after flying, have helped keep High Rock open for the past 40 years. Basically, they help to offset LZ maintenance and tax costs. Those costs haven't gone away, while at the same time the number of flights has plummeted in recent years. And the recent fundraising effort didn't really address that part of the picture... We still need to provide our typical/usual support, over and above this year's unfortunate, and unexpected, needs.

If you weren't able to contribute previously, we urge you to attend the High Rock Fly-In, where we will once again be collecting donations in support of the site. There aren't many places in the United States that can claim a 40-year history of hang gliding flight, so if you appreciate the opportunity to fly The Rock, we hope that you will participate.
