I am thinking the Pulpit guys. Talk about a site that has been paying dividends! Think about it. It will be pretty much guaranteed ridge soarable in the PM Sunday. Bacil

I tend to favor Woodstock for 'day-of' frontal/storm passages, and the Pulpit for 'day-after' . Course, every day is different, and rules-of-thumb are made to be broken .

But I noticed that the NWS text surface 'cast has been increased to W10-15 G25, for both WS and Pulpit. Guess we'll just have to see how things are looking tomorrow AM.

Change of plan for me, I think I'll swing by Highland today....

I'm heading to woodstock - I'm thinking I'll have a better chance of flyable conditions for my PG.

Surprisingly good day at Woodstock. It was light out of South when I arrived-- with high scuzzy cirrus. Hugh and Randy showed up and the scuzz started to lift. We all opted for our PGs. Thermals starting blowing into launch around 2pm and I went first-- climbing right out. I got 2.5 hours and about 5K msl. After trying to fly across the valley a few times, I gave up and headed north to Strasburg. The wind coming around the north point of the ridge created quite a venturi. I used my speed bar as I elevatored most of the way down from 2500 agl to a land in a cow pasture on Route 55. Hugh and Randy each flew for about 90 minutes or so.

Dave Gills flew first for nearly 1.5 hours, nabbing his first thermal flight, and landing in a thermally LZ at 2P. Congratulations Dave! Ward went next, and flew for 1.5 hours and went OTB to land by Lemar Road. I took off just after 5P and flew for 1.5 hours and landed at the golf course driving range. Charley launched shortly after I did and we flew together for the first time. Charley also landed at the driving range after 1.5 hours of airtime. Anthony broke down on top as a huge cu-nimb thunderhead was headed straight for the launch around 7:30P. A fine day at the Pulpit. Bacil

Arrived at the Pulpit just before 5PM to super soarable conditions. Bacil launched into a nice cycle and he stuck around until Ward and Anthony launched me (thank you). We shared a nice thermal near launch and then progressively worked our way down the ridge. Some turbulence early in the flight smoothed out away from the mountain. It was great flying with Bacil because we worked the air together to efficiently utilize the lift.

Just supurb soaring conditions for an evening flight with a little bit of texture to keep things interesting. After getting my fill I followed Bacil out to the golf course with 3,200'msl for sightseeing and relaxation. Made a nice landing with Ward performing as a human windsock and ground control.

It was therapeutic to get back in the air after being the last pilot launched at Ridgely yesterday. May we all find peace in our hearts and provide support and compassion to all that are hurting.

Had a great flight & my first ever low save (thanks to Bacil on the radio)
I never did as much with thermals as I did on Sunday.
Most of my flying has been in ridge lift.
A new and interesting challenge.
