Now looks like a coin flip about precip/t-storm(s) in the PM. The early AM flight is looking like an option. However, extreme caution must be exercised. Bacil

Forecast keeps changing. Looking pretty good for afternoon ridge-soaring as of now. Will keep watching...

I plan to stop at the Pulpit around 11AM and then again around 5PM.

Nice flying at the Pulpit with the Walternator leading the early birds. Nice flight Walt! Overcast but good launching conditions and mild ridge lift with some small punchy thermals. I launched second for a 30 minute flight to 2450'msl. Played with a Redtail as he hovered in the pipeline. I made a few gentle swoops towards him and he didn't budge. Flew out to the LZ only to see Bacil and a few others standing around a nearly limp windsock. Had a respectable landing on the edge of the corn and high grass strip. Hopefully the other brave and new pilots that flew will share their stories also. Got home early enough to cut and trim my grass and then take my wife and daughter out for dinner. What a great day.

Question: Can I use my gas trimmer to clean up around the benches and pavilion? It is getting overgrown. Also one of the benches should be disposed of as most of the boards are broken and rotted. The bulletin board is also in disrepair and should be removed or replaced. Visitors and pilots would benefit from contact information displayed in the bulletin. Maybe it is not worth repairing if vandalism has been a recurrent issue?

Charley, of course you trim or mow grass there. I stopped by the Pulpit around 5:15 after teaching at Kirshners and no one was there though it looked very soarable at that time and earlier around 11:20 AM when I went over the mountain I thought I saw Walt soaring near launch.

I arrived very early around 9:30am. The conditions were strong: 15 to 20 MPH, but straight. I set up my glider and waited for my fellow pilots.
A visiting pilot, Charles, and Bacil arrived later. Bacil forgot to attach his glider on the top of his car and arrived "glideless" Seriously speaking, he only stopped by to observe, guide, and help us: THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
I was the 1st to fly. I was able to soar a little bit in front of of the LA. Then, I took the silly decision to move south. When I started loosing altitude due the lack of lift, I moved North to try my changes in front of the LA again...big mistake...the lift was gone and I was far way from the main LZ.
Then, I moved toward the secondary even knowing it was not good, since I was afraid I would not make the main LZ. Bacil radio (I am so glad I got a radio) me and literally order me to turn left and move to the main LZ. I have to confess that I was doubtful I would make it. I was already planning to land in the field between the main and secondary since I was afraid I would not be able to arrive at the main LZ with enough altitude to land safely.
Fortunately, I arrived at the main LZ and landed safely on the main strip with no winds: that was a close one!
When I was breaking down my glider I could contemplate Charles soaring: he had a good time and a good landing.
Bacil brought us to the LA and we helped the visiting pilot to take off: he had a good launch and flight.
Once again, I wish to thank Bacil for observing me and providing outstanding instructions, Charles and the visiting pilot ( I do not remember his name:() for helping me on the wire.

Took a gamble on the Pulpit and it paid dividends. Observed Hyner member H2 Dave Gills for his first flight at the Pulpit and he was rewarded with a 13 minute soaring flight. He had a good launch and landing to boot. Walt, Charley, and Johan flew and soared, with Johan having the longest flight being an hour and 700' over. When we left at 4P the sky had opened up and it really turned on. Bet it was soarable til dark. Bacil

Thanks Bacil for the grand tour and to Walt & Charlie for helping with launch.
The LZ is much more H2 friendly than Hyner.
Approach is easy and I got to stick the landing without stepping on any corn.
Also...You folks have a pub on the top of the hill...Brilliant!
Count me in next time!
