I've been waiting for this day a VERY long time.... The number of registered users in our forums just broke 500 (thanks Mike N!). And each and every one of those users is an actual, bonafide person, interested in HG and/or PG.
How so?
Because they all had to respond to my emails after registration, with a brief description of their flight interests, who they are, etc. The point of that effort is to defeat the spambots which attempt to create bogus forum members. There can be 100s of bogus registration attempts per year (depending on the state of the phpBB forum software, the determination of the spammers, etc). We want the members of our community to be real people, clearly.
OK... But what gives with this "Hundred-Twenty-Five" ?
The way I look at it, half of those 500+ people might be categorized as casually-curious, students who didn't pursue our sports to the point of an actual rating, pilots who dropped out after achieving their solo, family members, friends, etc. That leaves 250.
And of those 250? Half of them could be pilots who've left the sport, or who have moved out of the area, or perhaps they were short-term visiting pilots, etc.
Which leaves 125.
Which leads to my point : We should certainly have 125 *paid* CHGPA members, given the 500+ figure. At Least!!
So... Are YOU one of the Hundred-Twenty-Five?
If not, please consider Joining or Renewing. Thanks to Krista, the PayPal dues-payment page now reflects the $50 annual membership figure, and the membership information form has been updated for 2015. So we believe that everything should be good-to-go, no barriers or problems.
(If you find that not to be the case, then please let me know in this topic ASAP, and we'll fix things)
Your membership in the CHGPA ensures that the flight experiences which you enjoy will be preserved, and that the sites where you fly will be improved. Please help us help you, by joining/renewing.
Cheers,

Re: Are YOU One Of The Hundred-Twenty-Five??
Hi Mark
Thanks for the reminder. I am now one of the 125!
I can fly on Sunday but it looks somewhat iffy. I may try High Rock because winds may shift a little later in the day there.

Indulge me. Why would anyone want to spend time and effort creating bogus forum members?
Our treasurer threatens to up the stakes
Our beloved and frustrated CHGPA treasurer Krista has been soliciting advice on how best to get our numerous delinquent members to pay their dues this year. We are already approaching Memorial Day and nearly half the club has not renewed their membership.
Some ideas have been tossed about; public flogging has been suggested, as has publishing the names of those who are guilty. Krista's favorite is to put the names of all of the members who haven't paid their dues into a hat, draw one name out and appoint that person as treasurer.
Seriously if you want to keep flying our foot launch sites and haven't paid your dues you need to do your share. The numbers of our unpaid members are at an all time high. If this doesn't change the apathy will overrun our Chapter like a cancer and before long we will be without foot launched sites in the Mid Atlantic.
If you have paid your dues, here's a suggestion. The next time a pilot asks you for assistance on wire crew or a ride back to their vehicle, ask them if they've paid theirs.

Thanks to Krista, a version of the club roster as of Aug 02 2015 is now available in the Members section of the CHGPA website.
If you're a member, you'll have received an email with a link to the roster previously. But emails get lost, so we figured it would help to have it in the Members section too.
And if you don't see your name there.....
Then you are *NOT* one of the 125.
In which case: Bring your checkbook to the meeting this Friday! (or, use the join/renew page to pay your dues online).
Don't make us come after you!!!!
