Weekend of 4/4 - 4/5

Post by XCanytime »

With the non-flying of yesterday even at Woodstock, and the residual cold temps left over until well into the afternoon today, Mother Nature may be handing us a "normal" spring pattern next Friday thru Sunday. Pre-frontal/post-frontal/leftovers are forecast for the 3 day period, with temps of 70+ on Friday and mid to upper 50's Saturday and Sunday. "Classic" Woodstock should fall on Saturday afternoon, then a "take your pick" of either the Pulpit or High Rock (or Woodstock again if it's not too cross) on Sunday. It's about time. Bacil

Still got my fingers crossed for Woodstock for Saturday. Currently they have upped the forecast to gusts to 30. If Woodstock looks blown out on Saturday, Pulpit may be good on Sunday--- or even Ridgely if it looks too South for the Pulpit.

Fingers crossed here too. I'm also willing to play hooky on Monday if anyone wants to go fly.

Me too. Late day flight if any. Last Saturday it didn't work out for the crew. Hope this Saturday is different. Bacil

Interested in flying on Saturday. Seems to look better now for Sat for Woodstock. Was planning to go to Highland on Sat for re-open day, April 4, 2015; though, looks like the wind is going to get much stronger near the ocean and Nova Scotia. As you all know, forecast might change and will make a final decision on Friday evening/Saturday morning.

I like what I'm seeing. Above 2.5 K there could be penetration issues but you can't argure about the direction.

Darn! Not liking it now. All of the casts have ramped up their velocity predictions for the weekend.

There is a sharp drop off predicted late in the day, after 5PM. I'm willing to gamble on it. Bacil

I will also gamble on a late-day throttle back at Woodstock on Sat, at least based on what I'm seeing now. Hopefully patience will be rewarded this time!

I'm on the fence, but there's probably time to decide tomorrow. What time are you guys anticipating your arrival?

I am excited about flying this weekend after the last frustrating weekend.
I will follow the flock, hopefully, it will be "waltable" and "falcanoble" this Saturday at Woodstock after 5:00pm.
I am also looking forward to flying at Pulpit this Sunday....let us see how things progress...

Cheers, walt

Unless things tank by tomorrow, I will probably aim for an ETA of 3pm. Easy to be fooled by a sucker lull, if you don't watch things for a couple of hours. In our favor: no gust factor in the Sat night forecast, as there was last week. Thankfully, the G40 which was briefly in the forecast yesterday is back down to G30.

Another plus. It will be 20 degrees warmer than last Sat. I am in for 3:00 PM. We can torture the zagi first to see what's up, up there.

If the forecast doesn't change for the worse, Karen and I are in for meeting at 3pm to drop cars off in the LZ.

Will post again on Saturday.

Woodstock, Sat, 4/4:
Forecast still looks okay for Saturday at WS and will be there little bit earlier. Perhaps around noon, just to have some extra time. Hoping for the Woodstock effect.

We are not flying until after 5:30P most likely. The sharp dropoff is still forecast to occur around that time. Bacil

IF the strong stuff blows out like the various forecasts are saying, there might be an opportunity for a nice flight at the end of the day. I haven't written the day off by any stretch.... Will decide go/no-go after the late AM updates.
