Hi Patrick, Denis Scheele here, I was up at Bills Hill about a year ago and launch was growing over with small saplins. What is the protacall on clearing launch for flying? Do we need to call anyone before flying?

The PA Forest Bureau has always asked that we contact them when we fly or do clean-up. I'm not sure anyone actually has, but it's not a bad idea. fd02@pa.gov and 717-485-3148. On their maps it's called Sideling Hill.

On another topic, as far as I know, the Bill's LZ is still off-limits.

With nice weather coming I was wondering what needed to be done to confirm the status of the LZ?

We need a diplomatic person to go talk to the LZ owners and see if they will be persuaded into letting us use the LZ again.

Explain the insurance info, the waiver and how we have had a great relationship there for over 25 years. Maybe get someone from Buchanan State Forest to come along to talk to the LZ owners.

Again-- someone diplomatic -- not me.

Who would be a diplomatic person? And how do we get them in front of the LZ owners?

I pulled up the deed information. Please see the attached figure I created is attached. (**all this info is just approximate and for display purposes only**)

It would seem the old LZ and the property across the road is owned by the same person. It might be wiser to land to the south.

A lot of us remember Shawn who talked to the landowners back on '06. He's a pretty diplomatic guy, but the landowners made it pretty clear the answer was no back then. Maybe there's nothing to be lost in trying again. Search for "Shawn" and "Fisher" and you'll find the conversation.

Did Shawn also talk with the Bills Hill landowners? I don't believe we had any issues with the Bills Hill LZ until just recently. Bacil

No, you're right. Our trouble with Bill's came long after Shawn left.
