Looks chilly but nice wind direction and strength. I am thinking about trying to make an XC to the Backroom brewery off the north end of the ridge near Relaince rd. I have been there a couple of times and they have a great selection of beers. They even grow their own hops. I have a ride back to launch arranged if anyone wants to check it out. 150 Ridgemont Rd. Middletown, Va. 22645 540-869-8482. Gary

Excellent XC idea! I've been to that brewery as well and really liked it.

Well, it will be pretty cold to a Brazilian...but given the alcohol rewards for those who will show up, I am in. I hope that the flying conditions will be "waltable" and "falconable"

High Rock looks like a better bet to me -- right now.

Karen and I plan to go to the Kite Festival to promote the club in the morning and then try to get in a late afternoon flight at the rock.

Anyone else?

I am going to pass on going only because of temps. I am such a wimp. Direction, lift, and velocity look fairly good.

A few brave pilots are also going :)
John I am sorry you will not be able to make it.
I will bring some hot chocolate to the launch area to warm up our spirits.

Don't forget about the Kite Festival.

If you aren't going to Woodstock, please come down and support the club, and have a fantastic time, at the kite festival.

We get out of this sport what we put into this sport.

Hmmmm.... Gust factor is now G30 on the NWS text forecast. That has me on the fence, might wait for the AM update to decide.

There are some fences down on the mall where you can sit.

It'll be just like Woodstock down at the kite festival today--- standing in the cold all day and watching the wind blow.

But with the added benefit of a much shorter drive and lots of pretty kites in the sky.

Probably 50/50 at best today, but you don't know if you don't go. Gary and I are in. He'll probably be there 12:30-ish. I'm just leaving home now....

We hiked. We did some trail running. We hauled gliders in and out. All in all, a good day, lots of exercise, very healthy!

Unfortunately, the winds didn't relent until 15 mins before sunset, just as Gary and I were throwing our gliders back on our vehicles.

There were eminently-launchable lulls, but they were SUCKER lulls, sigh.
