Looks like the call for Saturday is southwest and cloudy, and Sunday is more west but still cloudy.

Like I said last weekend, it should be easy to just park at the bar and hike in the stuff. Looking forward to Sunday. Bacil

Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
Greetings to all my fellow Hang gliding friends. I am looking to fly on sunday. Ithink Pulpit is a positive go and I think access should be ok. If any hang ones or two's want to take a tandom flight give me a call at 410-263-1135. Conditions look ok for a flight, no charge you just need to have a USHGP rating. Pulpit's good it also has a warm bar at launch and Highrock has nothing but outside. What is landing field like at Highrock? Come out and fly
Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
Looks WSW 10 to 15 MPH for Sunday. Not a bad Pulpit forecast and should be easily ridge soarable there. Bacil

Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
I'm still leaning toward High Rock for Sunday.
I think Pulpit will be blown out.
I'll call Emma Jane on Saturday and see how deep the snow is in the LZ.

Should get to launch at the Pulpit around 9:30A. Bacil
Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
Well I am going to the pulpit to fly. I think High rock is going to be very wet in landing field and we did not hear from Mathew about High rock . I get report at pulpit sunday 10 to 15 wnw, for these double surface gliders that is no problem. Hope to see you guys up to fly. Hope to make it up by 10:30
Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
Will check forecast and condition updates in the morning and go from there.
Don't forget to set clocks ahead one hour tonight for DST.
So Bacil's 9:30 time is really like 8:30am. It'll still be around freezing. Enjoy!!!!
We will be having breakfast and drinking coffee at home then.

Would like to get out to fly on Sunday. Prefer HR. If we can get some commitments from others for crew, HR will be rather good.

I will stop by HR first by 10am - after my coffee. If no one is there, I will head to Pulpit.

We are waiting for the 10am updates. Current forecast is 10-15, with gusts to 25. Satellite shows wave clouds. Hoping the updates will bring a decreasing forecast.
Sunset isn't till 7:10pm today. Plenty of time to fly if things start to look better.

Wonder how deep the snow at Smithsburg is for a running launch. I have a new glider that I'd like to fly and the mountain forecasts are trending towards "challenging".

Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
Afraid of that... KHGR reporting 13K still out of the west. Should pick up and become "sporty" NW by midafternoon then trending towards westerly and moderating.
Hopefully it will work out for the intrepid McConnellsburg crew.

Hay guys. went up to HR to find at 10:30 snow and ice on launch, to dangerous to launch. The landing has about 12in of snow. Spent time talking with Emmajane and I think it made her day. Emma wanted me to thank everybody for the oranges she recieved for Xmass.
I think around the end of this month High Rock should be more than flyable. To all at the Pulpit sorry I did not go over. The sky was nice and blue and winds were about steady 15 to 20 at the rock. So I figure no one will show up. I saw Bascil say he would be there at 9:30 it was 12:00 when I got away from HR. Good luck hope to see everybody soon and if anyboby want to fly tandom give me a call. CLEAR!!!

It did. Everybody flew and soared after 5P. BacilDanny Brotto wrote: Hopefully it will work out for the intrepid McConnellsburg crew.
Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
Many thanks to Bacil for patiently waiting...and then not even flying in fantastic evening soaring conditions. I showed up at 5:20PM just as it mellowed out. I launched last and got 1K over in relaxing air for a quick 30 minute flight. A great way to start the year!

Re: Pulpit Saturday 3/7
I arrived at Pulpit before lunch. I did not have issue parking my car close to the ramp. Most of the snow where gone. It was sunny and relatively warm, but very windy.
Bacil arrived a little bit later, we put the wind socks and starting the process of killing time Bacil helped with my new acquired radio: I used it for the first time yesterday
Jon and our fellow Sweden friend arrived later. Finally, Charles arrived and the winds calm down
I was the 1st to take off around 5:00pm and the 1st to land as well The takeoff was easy. I did not get very high. The lift was good and good thermal activities as well. At the end of my flight I faced some issues moving towards the primary LZ (penetration issues), but I found good thermals close the LZ, climbed again, and arrived at the end of the LZ pretty high. I finally landed on the field strip without any problems.
Jon, our fellow Sweden friend, and Charles landed a little bit after me.
It was a good day!
I would like to thank my observer, Bacil, for all the instructions and guidelines, and my other fellow pilots for helping on the wire, teaching me new Sweden jokes, buddy ride, and good time.
I am looking forward to flying again with such a great group of people
