F/L instruction
Is there anywhere near York, PA or northern Baltimore County that I could go for foot launch instruction? I know of Blue Sky but I was hoping for something closer. I have my H2 A/T and I am waiting on a part for the glider that I am buying...so no glider as of right now. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Blaine

John Middleton of Silverwingshanggliding.com teaches right off rt 83 by Cockeysville, MD sometimes on days when the winds are from the North East. Richard Hays also teaches there some I think. Don't have his contact.

The USHPA website lists a hang gliding Instructor named Paul Mazzoni in York, PA. I don't know if he's actively teaching, but his # is listed as 434 / 489 - nine109

D'uh!
Richard Hays of the Maryland School of Hang Gliding has his primary hill at Oregon Ridge Park, north of Baltimore, and he has a North facing hill in York.

Richard is no longer teaching HG, I spoke to him about 2 weeks ago. I am a PG instructor and live in Cecil County and have permission for different farm land areas to fly from Richard and I both approached the land owners. I am sure you have heard of Oregon Ridge that's a good place for a flight winds have to be North. There's other places like Fair Hill Park in Elkton/Newark that offers allot of different areas to fly. You can contact me at 443-377-2256

Hi Doug,
There is no listing of you on the USHPA web site for instructors in Maryland. Also, you do not list your last name nor do you provide any info such as a web site or when you are available to teach. I regularly have people ask me for the names of local paraglider instructors, I cannot give out this information if I do not have this information.

Doug,
Oregon Ridge faces NE. In a north, the wind comes over the pavilion so you need to take that into consideration with regards to rotors. East is the best condition for OR as the wind is less disturbed by upwind obstacles. SE is the worst as it dumps over the trees to the right and creates rotors in the chute.
OR is a nice place to fly in some conditions but it is technical due to the obstacles and such. Beginners (and even some Novices) should be under supervision until the specific of the site are understood... and for insurance purposes, current USHGPA membership required.
