OT : 2nd Forum Downtime? : Sat / Sun, Dec 6th or 7th

Now I'm chomping at the bit for the second of the two forum software updates that I mentioned in the previous downtime announcement.

This one is riskier. In an ideal world, I'd avoid the weekend completely to minimize impact on those who want to discuss flying plans. If things don't go well, we might have to revert the update, and recovery could take a couple of days. Not good if there's a decent flying day!

But OTOH, work is going to suck for the next 2 weeks... And this Sat looks like a wash-out... And Sunday (currently) looks like it might be due-North and strong (perhaps too strong for High Rock, which can sometimes be ok on a N day).

So I'm leaning toward go-for-it , on either Sat or Sun, depending on when I can allocate the largest chunk of time.

Worst case scenario : Sunday's forecast improves, but something goes wrong and we can't coordinate because the forum is down (possibly until Monday or Tuesday).

Bottom Line : If conditions improve for Sunday, don't count on the forums being up. I really want to get this update done, before things get completely holiday-and-work crazy.

The second update appears to have gone well. I've done some checking around (old posts, old attachments, etc) and things seem ok.

The biggest change with this phpBB update is how the forums appear on mobile devices. Bring it up on your smart phone, and I think you will like what you see.

PS: There's a known issue that affects forum searching with wildcards (eg : ' John* ' ), and they might not work at all. But that will probably be addressed by phpBB pretty quickly.
