I'm planning to be there. The weather looks like it's going to cooperate more
than it did last Saturday. I also plan to leave early to avoid the holiday
weekend bridge traffic.

Today's forecast models suggest an unstable day on the e-Shore Saturday,
albeit a tad strong for flite park fliting.
There's a weakening sfc H over Lake Superior and an exiting jet-level wind
max. Sfc pressure gradient weak but dynamic and thermo instability expected
to keep soaring zone well-mixed with higher wind speeds from aloft. Progs
show sfc wind NW ~12G16 MPH.
Temp-dew point spread ~20? suggests Q-base ~5K. The thermal layer is capped
by strong subsidence inversion. Strong inversions capping the thermal layer
tend to produce attention-getting inter-thermal sink.
Best AGL soaring conditions after 3 PM.
Similar conditions forecast for Sunday, although wind should be more
northerly and a shade lighter as the H migrates E.

Well, I've got my harness from Ridgely finally, but it was too gnarly to fly on Saturday afternoon. I went flying in a sailplane with Ric for about 45-50 minutes. Released at 2k and climbed up to around 4500. First time in a sailplane, great experience. At least I got off terra firma this weekend. This coming weekend looks pretty nice as well, hopefully the trend continues.

a friend from Leesburg to Tangier Island Sunday, stopped at Ridgely
on the way back to show my friend the hang gliding aerotow
phenomenon. It was great to see the gang. Bought avgas for $3.60/
gal - same as premium auto gas these days - so it was a bargain! - Hugh
