Re: Comments on my training hill launch...
Thanks for offering this up Daniel. Firstly, I must ask why you chose to start your launch way back from the lip of the knob? The slope is very shallow and demands that everything go right or the ground being very near below you may get contacted with the slightest of bank angles. Next, you change your grapevine to the pistol grip at :02. It seems that the nose pitched up a little and you got slightly airborne a bit early with insufficient airspeed. Then the nose dropped, indicating that the glider wasn't really ready to fly completely and wanted to gain speed. Since you launched from way back, you found your feet back on the ground. When the nose dropped the glider seemed to get ahead of you a little, but you kept the legs pumping, putting more energy into the launch and gaining the airspeed necessary to plane out and fly away from the knob. I would say to increase the safety margin of launching at Taylor's Farm I would launch closer to the lip of the knob. Gotta give you props for keeping the legs pumping. Very critical for saving the launch. Bacil

Daniel, I agree mostly with Bacil's comments. Your nose was a tad high (just a few degrees) at start, went slightly higher when you changed your grip and you tried to get flying too early initially.
